Because of what they say about what HE said about…
The Sin Question.
James W Hanson Sr.
The sin question finally answered. To maintain close relationship with God, as new believers become aware of sin in thought, word, or deed, should they keep confessing sins to the Lord Jesus daily? Do we need to keep short accounts with God to stay in good fellowship with him?
I became a Christian in 1979, and this main instruction for believers from our churches or in books or by video either by direct teaching or it was being implied upon us to follow by those who are more “mature” believers.
I don’t want to charge anyone as a false teacher because everyone was a new believer at some point in their journey with Christ; thus they emulate their spiritual fathers or mothers, who themselves emulate their spiritual leaders and over the centuries one generation of believers teach the new generations and on and on it goes. Yet very few will use the Scripture to examine this teaching.
After the homegoing of the Apostles unto our modern day, They began to teach about our personal sins to “touch not, taste not, handle not”.
For over 2000 years this doctrine has become the primary method of discipleship with new believers. They imply, with this doctrine, is the way to maintain a right relationship with Jesus Christ the Lord, when in fact this exact teaching condemned by Paul as following the doctrines of men in Colossians 2:20-23.
“Wherefore if you be dead with Christ (born again) from the rudiments of thw world, why, as though living in the world, are you subject to ordinances, (tough not: taste not: handle not; which all are to perish with the using:) after the commandments and doctrines of men?”
I have been a Christian since 1979 and have a four year Pastoral Theology degree, with 23 years as Senior Pastor and yet I am convinced that most Christians are following the commandments of men taught in their denominations and local churches this very teaching that the Apostle Paul condemned. Very few believers are checking to see of these things are true by reading their own bibles and hold the pulpit’s feet to the fire of the Bible.
Let us examine our subject “The Sin Question” and settle this question by rightly dividing the Holy Pages of the Bible, Gods Word to us all. We shall use Paul’s writings since our Lord made him the Apostle to the Gentiles, (that is anyone who is non-Jewish).
What do the Scriptures say regarding what we should or should not believe? We shall use one interpretation rule that The Holy Spirit Himself provided, found in 2nd Timothy 3:15-17.
“And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, of instruction in righteousness; That the man (people) of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” This is the only method of cleansing our minds of wrong teaching and engraving into our souls the truth, there is no other way.
Paul mentions the process for us in this passage. The first is salvation; which through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ work on his cross on behalf of all sinners, second is what is subject of Doctrine, this is what God the Holy Spirit wants to teach us, next up is reproof; this is for those who are teaching wrong doctrine; Next is correction; this is for those being reproved and for us to make changes in what we teach or believe and lastly, instruction; this is for both teacher and student to do from this point on. If the scriptures reprove, correct, and instruct of the truth we are to embrace it as Godly instructions.
What is truth? (As Pontius Pilate asked Jesus) The Roman world was not different that our modern world. It has always been that way with mankind. The ancient world believed in multiple “gods” and deities. It all depended upon the god you followed as to “what is truth”. Yet Pilate when pilate asked that question to Jesus, he was staring into the eyes of the one true GOD of heaven and earth and all that is there in.
If you go to the thousands of current religions and denominations around the world today, you will get the same amount of interpretation of what is truth, no matter what the subject matter. And we will become like Pilate throwing up our hands in the face of GOD and say “what is truth?” Jesus answered Pilate with the giving of the Holy Bible, Gods Truth to the World, to lead us back to Him. Once we read the Word of God we will come to the answer that Pilate was searching for; Jesus is the Truth, all else is wood, hay, and stubble!
The only way to escape this current evil generation religious confusion is to adhere to one single principle written by the Holy Spirit; “
All scripture (no denominations, books or videos) is given by inspiration of God (where did the scripture come from?) and is profitable for doctrine (what to believe) for reproof (Gods disciplining us) for correction ( make changes) for instruction (how then shall we live as Christians) in righteousness.
When I became a Christian in 1979, I did exactly what I was taught. I wanted to jumpstart my Christian life by not doing what I used to do and follow my fellow mature believers; After all isn’t this what we are told to do?
After years of Bible college and becoming a “pastor,” I found the teachings of touch not, taste not, handle not, becoming a huge weight on my conscience. I was guilty all the time of something. Fear of sin and sinning developed in me a personality of separation from all who did not live as I did. What I taught in the church was the same as I had been taught, putting this burden upon believers that I myself couldn’t carry.
I was then that I understood Paul’s teaching in Romans 7:14-25. This passage is Paul coming to the same conclusion as I did; That we are not able to keep short accounts of our sins with our Lord!
By following the doctrine of touch not taste not handle not we are really relying on our old nature! Although, with good intensions (as with Paul) we endeavor not to sin against Jesus. Sooner or later (let us hope is it sooner) we come to the same conclusion of Paul the Apostle;
“For I know that n me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me: but how to perform that which is good I find not.” Romans 7:18 KJV.
This whole passage in Romans seven is rich with truth. We cannot nor ever be able to keep short accounts of our daily sinful lives with God. Paul was a trained Pharisee, he knew the Law forward and backwards; I believe he is here sharing with us his own personal struggle using his knowledge of God’s law and trying to live now as a Christian and the futility of using touch not, taste not handle not rules and laws will cripple believers young and old as it did Paul;
“But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Oh, wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Romans 7:23,24. KJV.
Getting to Paul’s main point is religion, mine, yours or even Paul’s can’t help you. Godly education cannot help you, no matter how many books, videos or seminars read, view, seminars you attend, they can’t help you win the battle against the Sin Question!
Many spend their entire lives trying to stay ahead of their consciouses by following their own rules for a Christian life from and whoever taught it to them. Most (not all) use one verse to help them ease their consciences, 1 John 1:9.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. 1 John 1:9 KJV.
After four years of theology training, and twenty-three years of study and preaching, the Sin question still remained unanswered in me. I was still sinning in thought, word and deed, confessing 1 John 1:9 each time (because this is what I was taught). With dread I would wait for another day to begin all over again. Who would want to share their faith under this guilt ridden dirty conscience?
I didn’t have any joy, only fake smiles; and why would I want to share this misery with others? Yes, because they need to be born again, but then they will enter the same crucible as I! Do you see the hideousness of that teaching? Are you too under this heavy weight?
Like Paul, it all came crashing to its inevitable miserable end. As Paul, I now adapted the cry of unsufferable misery “oh wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from this body of death?
Then in the next verse Paul gives us the answer! Like the sunrise after a stormy night, beams of hope began to fall upon my face, through all the trees stood like pillars of sin, the sun shined upon my face as understanding began to enter my soul when.
God gave me these word after an intense battle with my own sin; “There is no sin for the believer…The more you realize this, the more sanctified you’ll be. The more you fight sin the more guilty you’ll be” Then the truth hit me in the face like a bucket of fresh water.
In Romans seven the chapter break is verse is 7:25. Remember we are to rightly divide the word of God as a workman (Christian) needs not be ashamed. 2 Timothy 2:25. After Paul shares the doctrine of his misery in romans seven, I believe the correct ending or the crescendo should have been Romans 8:1,2! I’m saying Romans 8:1,2 should have been Romans 7:26,27!
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Most scholars agree that the second phrase of this verse is not in the original writings, scribes added the phrase at some point in scriptural history for clarity. The Greek scriptures say, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” Amen.
This is how it should we should read it; “there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2,1.
Allow me to break it down, Paul’s conclusion after sharing his testimonies struggle with his own sin, He did not quote 1 John 1:9 because it wasn’t written by John until around 90 AD. Paul wrote Romans around 57-58 AD by Paul to the Christians in Rome (Rome being the most sinful city in a sinful world. Remember there were no churches on the corners of each block at this time in history. Sin was at its apex when Christ came into the world and Paul wrote this letter to the Christian in Rome, Christians are tempted to sin at every turn of the corner, every block, every street, day after day, so how can they live a holy life?
Here is my break down of this passage as Paul gave us his answer that soothed his Christian conscience like taking a plunge into the glory of God, Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego walked out of the fiery furnace heated seven times hotter than normal, their cloths didn’t even smell like smoke due to the Son of God who was in the furnace with them!
The true Gospel of Grace completely snuffs out our burning consciences. We will not even have the smell or stain of sin in our minds due to the power of the Blood of Jesus Christ! Paul taught us what Jesus Christ himself taught him, and the Gospel of Grace was born!
What does this mean for you and me?
The Holy Spirits answer us is the same as it to Paul. I am going to use my preachers license here and quote the verses in reverse, I believe the truth becomes glaring reality.
“For the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…” Romans 8:1,2 in reverse KJV. Do you see it now? Let this sink into your souls deeply!
There remains two spiritual laws after Jesus said it was finished; The Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus and the Law of sin and death. One gives us access to the Tree of life they other the tree of knowledge of Good and evil. See Genesis Three.
The Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (notice Paul reversed Jesus’ name) Christ Jesus means those who are born again their souls are Baptized by the Holy Spirit and into the Body of Christ, and they become one, i.e., Christ Jesus, Jesus Christ himself is at the righthand of the Father, Christ Jesus lives in all believers on the earth.
Conclusion of this matter of the doctrine of sin?
There is no sin in a believer’s life, God will not charge sin to a believers account because Jesus paid it all! If you could gather all the sins of the entire world starting from Adam and Eve until the judgement day and put it into a spiritual cup when He was in the garden the night he was betrayed, He looked into the cup and began to sweat great drops of blood knowing he had to drink in my sin and then endure God’s wrath on our behalf, he cried out; “Father is there by any other way, take this cup from me, Nevertheless not my will by thine be done’. And he drank into himself all the putrid vile unmentionable sins of every man, women and child in the history of the world, began to sweat his holy blood before he even went to the cross!
I know what was in that cup, it was my sins, you know what was in that cup, it was your sins. Jesus died for you as if he himself committed the sins. (Thank you Lord Jesus on my behalf and on behalf of my family).
This is Jesus’ answer to Paul’s Sin Question! Paul’s conscience was released as He realized the whole truth of what Jesus did on the cross for him and us. This truth mentioned in multiple other passages of Scripture as well. It is the only truth that matters, it is the only message of the gospel; for believers their sin is gone, and God will never again accuse them and hold them accountable! Unbelievable? Yes, that’s why it is called “The Gospel”.
So as Adam and Eve had the two trees in the garden of Eden, the tree of knowledge of Good and evil and the tree of life, so we have the choice to live our Christian lives, but eating from the tree of knowledge of Good and evil (Knowledge or sin and death, conscience) or we chose the tree of life, Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Which will you choose?
But what about 1 John 1:9? The answer to that question is to compare Scripture with Scripture.
By comparing the two passages of Scripture with the understanding that the Bible never contradicts itself, Romans 4:7,8 With 1 John 1:9 we can begin to see the truth.
First 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. 1 John1:9 KJV.
The key to this passage is verses 1 John 1: 8,10
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us, if we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us”. 1 John 1:8,10. KJV.
John the Apostle was addressing a group of people who were infiltrating the local churches and clearly teaching Spirutual realm and physical realm were separate, one is good the other is evil, therefore they were not sinners, not responsible for personal sin against a holy God. They were known as the Gnostics, we know this because he started out the letter by saying that God himself was became human, “that which was from the beginning” (vs1) We touched him and saw him with our own eyes the Word of Life” Then Verse 2 John says “For the life was revealed, and we have seen it (him)…and show to you that eternal life, which was with the Father was revealed to us;” John was speaking of Jesus Christ how was eternal life in human form. The Gnostics basic belief was the spiritual world was Good and physical world was evil, therefor Jesus could not have been “eternal life or he would have been evil.
This gives us understanding, the Gnostics didn’t believe in personal sin against a deity that had to be dealt with, they believed that knowledge “gnosis” could achieve a “higher” enlightenment to escape the evil world to the spiritual, resembling to the scientologist of today.
Therefore, John directly and correctly contradicts this false teaching by saying “If we say that we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Then John seals his teaching with an alter call to the Gnostics to repent, “If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
This verse was meant for unbelievers not believers! Because no believer would ever say they are not nor have ever been sinners. On the contrary, it is because they admit their sin and rebellion that they believed the message of John, that Jesus was God in the flesh who walked among us and died on his cross as the sacrifice for the whole world of sins, now whosoever shall confess his sin to God trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ is forgiven of his sins and cleansed from a life time of unrighteousness! That’s what “…cleansed from all unrighteousness” means. This is the unbelievable good news.
Those whom the Son of God sets free are free indeed. Free of all guilt and condemnation from their conscience and the dominance of the sin nature for a lifetime! This is the good news of grace.
The Apostle John teaching, in John 1:9, has and is being used as a “Cure All” for believers who sin against the Lord. I’ve heard stories (whether true or not I cannot tell but I can see the plausablity of it) Christians would sin deliberately then get on their knees and ask forgiveness using 1 John 1:9. Christians upon confession in prayer believe this brings them back into fellowship with God. My response to those who accuse me of teaching grace as a license to sin, is that the wrong teaching of 1 John 1:9 is even worse. This teaching is an anti-Gospel, keeping new believers under the dominance of an “evil conscience” Hebrews 10:22, and thereby still under the law, making the “…Cross of Jesus Christ” of non-effect.”
The Greek word for “making the cross of Christ of non-effect” is the word “kenoo,” meaning; to make empty, deprive of force, rendered useless.
Christians have been following this teaching for centuries. Pastors and teachers are deliberately or ignorantly (lets hope the later) keeping believers in the quagmire of the second half or Romans seven, keeping them under the weight of sin, causing them to become sin conscience rather that Christ conscience.
I was there too, I believed and preached to keep our daily sin on the short list with God, I didn’t want to go back to my old life style, so I swallowed the teaching hook line and sinker and thereby letting Satan rob me of the joy of being free through Jesus Christ.
It qualifies as “another Gospel” from Galatians One, and we all know what Paul wrote about those who teach another Gospel; let them be anathema. Galations 1:1-9.
In conclusion; 1 John 1:9 was calling the Gnostics to believe the truth, not for believers to ask forgiveness for every failure of sin!
Now let us examine Paul’s teaching of this truth with Romans 4:7,8.
“Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” Romans 4:7,8 KJV.
Do you see the apparent contradiction between the two verses? Paul is saying that Blessed is the man; happy, joyful, full of life and the love of living; blessed is the man,(Christians) who iniquity are forgiven (bid to go depart from the offender, so that all claims against them or nullified, and emptied of force, as if the offender has become deceased and is no longer liable to any and all obligations they incurred while living in the world. Wow! But wait; the truth is not clear yet! The Greek verb tense is “Aorist” There is no direct English equivalent but generally meaning without regard to past, present or future, usually translated as “past in most translations but generally known as “having begun from a certain point and cumulatively having ended at a certain point” Blue Letter Bible app.
As I read this joy began to rise in my soul, and this verse has come to mind, “He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of the Lord Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6. Past, present and future, i.e., “cleansed from all unrighteousness” Unbelievable Lord! Jesus, How can it be? You set me free for a lifetime? Yes, yes he did! Do you see why confessing sins over and over is a denial of sorts of what Jesus did?
This makes the Gospel exciting and joyous again, this is why it is called the “Gospel”, too good to be true, but it is, (more on this term later).
Why go I about confessing sin day after day when there are no charges against a believer for life? Good question, so why do we? The accuser of the brethren is why this happens, be we over come him by the word of our testimony and the blood of the lamb.
It is either because we don’t believe the gospel or we don’t understand fully what Jesus did on his cross for us, or lastly, we are not being taught the truth.
But wait, we’re not finished with the verse; now we know what “…blessed is the man whose iniquities are forgiven means; now let us examine “…and whose sins are covered”.
Greek word for “are covered” is same Greek word for “are forgiven,” meaning without regard for past, present for future, meaning without regard for the lifetime of one’s past present or future, (Halleluiah). Greek word is “ep-ee-kal-oop” to cover over as to Never come into view!
Does this define the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ? Yes, it does. Does this give one a license to sin? On the contrary, when fully understood, it gives one a license to be free from sin.
But wait! There still more (I’m beginning to sound like one of those gadget commercials) But there is more; verse eight, “blessed is the man whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
The Holy Spirit used this word blessed twice saying, Blessed, Blessed is the one whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sin is covered and blessed is the one whom the Lord will never count sin against them, ever!
Paul is quoting Davids Psalm 32 where David was prophesying the future gospel of Grace after Messiah comes, and now is here, this is the gospel which Paul preached, this is the good news that Paul warned against corrupting in Galations one.
There is only truth for all believers of all ages and that is their sins past, present and future have been nailed to the cross of Jesus. They will never come under condemnation, or accusation from God never again. Wow.
Let us repent and lay down our efforts of personal sin management and believe the good news, thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ, for the believer there are no sins to manage.
There are many passages in the Bible which speak to this same gospel truth, Psalms 103 where gospel was again prophesied by David, John the Baptist who pointed to Jesus and told his disciples “…behold the lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world”. John the Baptist was prophesied about what Jesus would do for the whole world “taketh away” in John 1:29, meaning to take off of one and carry it away by another; Jesus took the sins of the world off our back and placed it upon his, and paid for it all on his cross, i.e., the “lamb of God” shedding a substitutionary death for the sins of the history of mankind.
Let us see what the Holy Spirit says about this truth; John 9:16,17 “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness, and of Judgement: of sin because the Believe not in me”.
If there is any heinous sin left in the world it is this, not to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as payment for our sins. Not to believe or refusing to believe that we are sinners by nature stands against the most basic truth of the Holy Bible; that mankind has fallen from their original state as holy beings and taken the nature of our evil stepfather; Satan. This is an unpardonable sin.
Therefore, there is not any man born of women since the Garden of Eden, who could have paid the price of our sin, which is death from God and physical death upon the earth, because all born through Adam and Eve have been born with their sin nature, thus God came to earth as a man, without sin, born of a virgin and called himself Jesus (Jehovah saves) Thus the need for Jesus to pay it all on our behalf. Therefore, the only sin left in the earth is to choose not to believe why God sent his Son and to act as if you can do don’t need him. Whoa upon them who are so foolish.
On the contrary; for those who do repent (change our minds about Jesus) and believe what Jesus he did on the cross on our behalf, The Holy Spirit speaks yet again about the sin question in Hebrews.
“…The Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that (After an unbeliever repents thereby believes on Jesus as God the Fathers Payment for their sins). He said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds, I will write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin. Hebrews 10.16,17.
This passage in Hebrews Paul is quoting from Jeremiah 31:34, explaining the New Covenant of Grace God will cause Israel to believe on (as we gentiles believe now) but notice this truth in Hebrews 10:17 “and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more”.
The new covenant for gentiles and Jews through Jesus Christ God’s Son, covers all sin, each sin, ever sin, of the entire world once and for all for all of life! No need to confess sin over and over as we are being taught today.
For “by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (meaning all of the Worlds’ sin at once’ and once for all men and women in every past, present and future generation) hallelujah! Paul doesn’t stop there, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he gives us Gods interpretation of verse 10 in verse 14; “For by one offering he (Jesus) has perfected for ever them that are sanctified”. Hebrews 10:14 KJV
. The word “Perfected”: Greek verb in perfect active tense; “an action which is viewed as having been completed in the past, once for all, not needing to be repeated. As Jesus said on the cross “It is Finished.” Blue Letter Bible, Greek parsing.
. The Word “For Ever”; means Continuous Perfection Continuously.
. The word “Them; “…upon all them that believe for there is no difference. Romans 3:22. KJV.
. The Word “Sanctified”; cleaned and purified internally by renewing Holy Spirit into soul. Only Those who are Born Again.
I can count multiply passages where this same truth of the Blood of Christ written. To say that we have to keep on confessing our sins to God to stay in right relationship with him is to offence against the Blood of the Son of God!
It is so offensive to the Holy Spirit it would be likened to a Born-again Christian offering an animal sacrifice each time they sin!
This thought is so egregious it is hard to type out the words… yet it is true. Paul says it this way to our generation…
“Oh foolish Christians in 21st century, who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Receive Ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of Faith?
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? (Your denomination, you favorite preacher? Your interpretation? Galatians 3:1-3. Authors interpretation of the KJV.
So, let us in our day answer Paul’s question; Who has bewitched us? Who dares to perfect the Gospel about Jesus Christ?
Did you become a Christian by trying to keep the law of your Conscience or simply by laying it aside and trusting in the work of Jesus Christ?
Now that you already have the Holy Spirit are you trying to improve upon the work of Jesus Christ?
No, no, no! Therefore, it’s time to renew the Blessed Hope of absolute liberty and freedom! Those who believe on Jesus Christ of Nazareth, as final payment of their sins need never to confess sins to God again,
By the blood of Christ Jesus, Christians only are perfected forever by the most precious blood of God the Son, Jesus of Nazareth. Of whom all the law and animal sacrifices pointed forward to the Blood offering of God the Son on behalf of (as John the Baptist prophesied) “The next day John (turned his eyes to gaze upon) Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away (gr; to remove from another and carry away) the sin of the world”. John 1:29, Parenthesis per Greek verb, BLB).
Every Jewish family knew what John meant by saying Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. Under the law, Jewish people were required to bring a spotless lamb which was sacrificed as a substitute for their sins by the priest.
What John was saying to them and us and for the rest of the world, Behold the Lamb of God for the substitute for the sins of all mankind, meaning Jesus was God’s lamb as substitute payment for the sins of every generation of Adam and Eve.
(Per God’s Law ‘the soul that sins must die’ this cannot be revoked) It was the same law in Genesis three, in the law of the prophets and in the new testament it is written, “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life” Romans Six.
Therefore God Himself by the great love by which he loved us, Himself paid with death of His Son for every generation while the world continues to exist until the last day, when the last person rejects or accepts the Blood of Jesus as his own, then the end shall come. To the Jew first and also to the gentiles.
We must understand that our sins have been already dealt with by God himself, He did not cancel his laws about sins, he fulfilled the laws for us through his Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, when we come to believe God for why he sent his Son, there is no stone left unturned.
This is truth of grace is our motivation for our holy living, not guilty conscience by a conscience completely fulfilled and nullified by the payment of Jesus Christ on our behalf. Now there remains no more sacrifice for sins, no need to bring anymore animals sacrifices, or hold revivals, just complete acceptance and faith in the Blood of the lamb! Payment for our sin was paid once for all time and all time paid for all time by one man, the man called Christ Jesus.
Because in His Sight (God, the great I AM) We are “in the body of his flesh (Jesus) through the death, to present you Holy and unblameable and unreprovable in his sight” Colossians 1:22 KJV Parenthesis mine.
Christians: do you see yourself in the description of this verse? It says that ALL Christians are Holy, unblameable and unreproveable in his sight! Why don’t we see ourselves this way? Because we don’t truly understand what Jesus did on our behalf or we have not been taught the truth by others. Anathema upon all false teachers who show despite unto the Holy Blood of the Son of God.
By Gratitude and thankfulness knowing our perfected position automatically motivates us to live for him out of love, he has placed his Holy Spirit within us as a guide and teacher. And the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness against such there is no law.
His grace is not a license to sin, (those who teach this proves are not saved at all or you yourselves have been led astray by teachers, (let’s hope it is the latter)
It is out of love for him with the acknowledgement of the complete work he did to set us free so that we live for him, not out of self-made rules or rules placed upon us by others.
Ignorance of the Word is no accuse in America. We are free to worship and carry our Bibles to church anytime we wish. It is better to read our Bibles than to carry them!
The Apostle Paul warned us that there are many deceivers and antichrist in the world ready to lead us astray.
Currently, many denominations will have us live as if we owe him, as if we were yet in bondage; They preach psychological babel or some other “Christian Psychology”. There are many denominations of Christianity where there are certain terms we are not to speak in the main service under the guise of offending the “seekers” away. Words, like “sin, born gain, blood of Christ.” I wonder if Paul would abide by such seeker sensitive services?
On the contrary, we live not out of debt but out of love and gratitude to the “finished” work of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf.
Paul says it this way; “Or despises thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; no knowing that the goodness of God, leads us to repentance.” Romans 2:4.
If you do not understand the complete goodness of Gods grace you will automatically live as if you need improvement it.
Never live as if Gods’ gift of his Son is not enough. Live knowing that it is more than enough, more than you need! We must live our lives out of Love of God, live as saints Holy, unaccusable, uncondemnable and not as sinners, live as ambassadors for Christ who need nothing more in life but be received up into Glory.
Christians who completely believe and understand such grace was bestowed upon them can’t wait to meet Jesus’ face to face. He is The Blessed Hope, this kind of grace is what motivates us to share our faith with others, not by seminars of evangelism or some other classes training believers to share their faith.
We should and will share our faith when we understand the great forever and ever reaching grace that has been given to each and every believer, for there is no difference, because we want the lost to have what we have, we share out of love and astonishment of the completeness of the Blood of Jesus Christ on our behalf and we cannot be kept silent we must tell somebody!
Remember this. What I have just shared IS what the Bible calls the Gospel. The term gospel is not new to the first generation of Christians, it was a word only used in order to describe great and incredible news.
I have read stories of the ancient days when nations were independent nations went off to battle against an encroaching invading army who was about to attack.
They would set watchmen stood upon the wall, looking for the returning army. Usually, the General would send back a runner to his country to bring the good news, “victory has been won! Or they would see their ememy marching to destroy them.
The good news is when a kings messanger would say , We are all safe and sound from our enemies, the victory has been won! The whole nation and in every village the news would spread and shouts of joy and gladness with a sense of relief could be heard across the land.
Then the Kings army would return through the gates having the their enemies King in tow with a hook in his jaw, and stripped of all kingly robs behind the victorious Kings Chariot, as proof their enemy has be defeated and dethroned.
This is what the Term; “gospel” means. It meant the news was so good and wonderful to take in. The Apostles couldn’t think of a more powerful word to use so the Holy Spirit gave them the Word “GOSPEL” to tell the watchmen of the world of sinners that satan has been defeated! All is forgiven, this is message of God sent to the world.
Colossians brings out this same scenario for each single believer when as the Holy Spirit describes the complete victory in our King Jesus Battle on our behalf; As we sit at home in our towns and villages waiting for news of the Battle our sins against the forces of darkness who came against us on a daily basis; How beautiful are the feet of him who brings good news!
“And you, being dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (when you were unsaved) has he quickened you (made you alive) together with him, (Jesus) having forgiven you all (each, every, any, all, the whole, everything collectively) trespasses; (how?) blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show (an example of) of them openly, triumphing over them in it”. ‘it’ meaning The Cross of Jesus. Colossians 2:13-16.
Then Paul continues with this command; “let no man therefore (religion, denomination, man or women, videos books) judge you (not even yourself!) …” In anything when it comes to living for Christ.
God defeated Satan and all the powers of hell, even your own flesh through the death burial and resurrection of his own Son. God nailed his laws of holy living to the cross of his Son that were against you.
Now that you know this ask yourself now say ask question; now that I know this, how should I then live? We should shout from the roof tops and stand fast in the liberty whom Christ has set us free and be not tangled in the yoke of bondage of men again!
Last words to those who are not yet believers; “Verily, verity, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24. Jesus.
For those who reject Jesus there is a stern warning; “of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, and unholy thing, and has done despite unto the Spirit of Grace?”. Hebrews 10:29, KJV.
